Municipal companies aim to ensure that the entire road infrastructure maintenance process is carried out smoothly and efficiently in economic terms. Therefore, they look for the most cost-effective solutions. The so-called swap system, which is a special system with a vehicle body that can be exchanged for a spreader or other body, meets this criterion. The advantage of this system is that one vehicle can be used all year round for a variety of transport tasks.
Together with our German partners, we won a tender to supply 25 three-sided aluminium tippers mounted on a MAN 6×4 chassis to Die Autobahn GmbH. The tippers that will help maintain Germany’s motorways have two frames, with one lower frame permanently attached to the vehicle and the upper frame being an integral part of the body. The connection is made with the TwistLock system, which allows the body to be smoothly replaced with a spreader.
The loading platform floor is made of HARDOX steel, while the side and rear boards are made of aluminium, which is lightweight and corrosion-resistant. Outside the winter season, the KH-KIPPER bodies designed for road and motorway maintenance are used to transport loose and palletised materials necessary for motorway repair. The side boards on both sides are divided into two sections with lower hinges, and the rear board has an additional upper hinge. When the side and corner posts are removed, a flat platform is made. The platform can carry a spreader, a long motorway plough, working machinery or large prefabricated components. Loads are secured using brackets in the floor.
The internal dimensions of the load platform allow materials to be transported on pallets arranged in two rows next to each other.
More three-sided KH-KIPPER vehicle bodies will soon be seen on German motorways, but this time they will be mounted on an MB 8×4 chassis.
